Mind the mind

Mind is a representative tool inside my head
bring her to dark places, racing thoughts,
over pray and one fragments –
the road to breakdown can be swift,
a schism with the psyche

mind can represent me, I, my, her, hers, him, his
mind can represent our, ours, you, yours
represent with your mind what you need
there are dangerous places, keep your mind
and stay away from unsustainable states

social censure, calamitous lapses, one sided views
communication is what you hear back
issue a few missives for when you get stuck
help yourself, curate the relationships you mind needs
keep them afloat – formulaic responses are no good
to keep the ship going through opinion differences
and resist all those vile ways of corruption

each mind can get to impossible states
frustration, review, narcissism injured, thwarted,
criticism wounds, poisonous misrepresentation,
careful negotiation, mediated for a good outcome
we share with words
for all we have is words
gentle, respectful words

  1. I have broke down before. It can be swift you are right about that.

When you wrote the first line of your poem. “Mind” represents a word no? Should “Mind” in the first line be underlined to better represent the meaning of the poem? I am assuming you are speaking of the word “Mind” in this first poem?

I traveled to this poem as a jaunt from John White’s Poem.

    Thank you.

    1. The title was one of the last considerations. The working title was ‘mind’, and ended up as ‘mind the mind’ in line with current climate of attempting to combat social stigmatisation on account of mental illness.

The focus on ‘words’ as units of language repeated towards the end comes from biblical heritage in Genesis. Words simultaneously, in line with taxonomic perspectives on the interpretation of line graphics, can represent reified objects.

There are a few pieces on my wordpress site from the Caribbean Literary Salon /Leaves of Life site and on a podcast from Near FM that you might be interested to marshall up online to fill out perspectives on my arguments more fully.

Hope all has worked out well for you since then, and you are in good health now. John White’s poetry is interesting to follow.

      Kind Regards
